
Two Detroit firefighters suffered minor injuries while on patrol during the city's Angel's Night, authorities said. Some 214 firefighters worked throughout the night Wednesday with hundreds of volunteers to watch for suspicious activity throughout Detroit, The Detroit News reported. "The guys did a really good job, obviously," Senior Chief Robert Valgoi said. "We had two minor [firefighter] injuries -- a neck burn and a minor strain." The Detroit Fire Department would not release the final number of fires, saying the Mayor's Office would release official numbers later Thursday. In past years, the Mayor's Office has said the city averages 30 to 40 fires in the nights leading to Halloween. In 1984, 810 fires were set in Detroit on Devil's Night -- the night before Halloween.
