At least two police officers have been killed after a bomb blast ripped through a police van in the Pakistani city of Karachi, Sputnik International reported.
A powerful bomb explosion has rocked a police van in the Pakistani city of Karachi, killing at least two police officers and wounding 14 other people, sources said.
"Two policemen were killed and 14 other people, including two civilians were injured when a bomb planted on a motorbike was blown up as a police van was passing by," Karachi police chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo said on Friday.
According to him, the officers, who belonged an elite squad that guards VIPs, were on their way to guard Bilawal House, the residence of former president Asif Ali Zardari.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion, which some believe may be the work of militants linked to the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
