FOUR people have been arrested after robbers burst into an off-licence and threatened staff with a hammer and a crowbar – for the second time in nine days. Employees at Bargain Booze in Wellington Road, Rhyl, were petrified when two masked men demanded cash, alcohol and cigarettes before they fled just after 10.30pm on Tuesday. But 40 minutes later, two men and two women were arrested. They remain in custody and police are linking the incident to a similar one last Sunday, where two men in balaclavas targeted the store with metal bars and made off with cash – leaving one member of staff needing ambulance treatment for the trauma. No-one was injured in the latest raid but shop assistants are receiving help to deal with their harrowing experience. Detective chief inspector Steve Williams said: “Two men, whose faces were covered, entered the premises armed with weapons similar to a crowbar and a hammer and demanded money from staff, then made off with a quantity of cash, alcohol and cigarettes. “Following police inquiries two men and two women were arrested in relation to the robbery 40 minutes after it was reported.” DCI Williams hailed the officers for their prompt response and said it was all part of a proactive approach to crimes in the area. He said police were “definitely” linking the two crimes with the people they had in custody. A police spokesman added: “Staff were not physically assaulted but it had been a traumatic experience.”
