
At least five separatists of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) have been killed in clashes with Turkish police on the Iğdır-Doğubeyazıt highway in eastern Turkey.
PKK militants, meanwhile, hurled hand grenades at troops guarding a police station in Silopi, wounding two of the security personnel, Turkish news channels reported Wednesday.
Two bombs also went off near a police station in Bornova district of Izmir in western Turkey causing damage to cars parked on the side of the street, as well as stores. No word of casualties was reported.
Another armed PKK group also attacked a gendarmerie deployed in the city of Tunceli in eastern Turkey, with no human casualties or material damage reported.
