
Five Ukrainian military personnel were killed and 17 others wounded in separate clashes accross eastern Ukraine, Russian TV said on Sunday.
The clashes, which occurred on the outskirts of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk and other cities, led to the death of five soldiers and wounding of 17 others, the television cited a source in eastern Ukraine as saying.
Seperately, Russia has critisised the firing of Ukrainian forces on a Russian border crossing on the outskirts of the town of Rostov.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, in a statement, demanded that Ukrainian authorities investigate the incident, ensure it is not repeated and to cease all acts, it regarded, provocative.
On the other hand, hundreds of protesters gathered in Independence Square in Kiev, demanding that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko declares a state of emergency in eastern Ukraine, and a truce, between local forces and pro-Russia separatists, annuled, Interfax news agency reported.
The week-long ceasefire between the Ukrainian military and pro-Russian rebels expired on Friday night but was extended for 72 hours by the Ukrainian president
