6 people dead in northeast China car crash

At least six people were killed and four others injured in a collision between a truck and a minivan that occurred in northeast China's Heilongjiang province Thursday night, local police said Friday. The accident happened at 11:47 p.m. in Tieling township in the city of Mudanjiang, the Heilongjiang Public Security Department said in a statement, relayed by China's Xinhua news agency today. Six people were pronounced dead at the scene after the truck crashed into the minivan. Rescuers managed to pull four of the minivan's passengers out of the wreckage, with one suffering severe injuries, the statement said. An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
