
61 rebels have been killed in newest military operations across the country, the Afghan Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the Afghan Ministry of Interior the operations were carried out jointly by Afghan National Security Forces in Kandahar, Zabul, Oruzgan, Helmand, Takhar, Kunduz, Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Kapisa, Maidan Wardak, Paktiya, and Herat provinces in past 24 hours.
The statement added that 61 militants were killed and 28 others wounded in these operations.
According to the statement 13 different types of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) placed by the insurgents were defused during these operations.
In the meantime, the Afghan Ministry of Defense stated in a statement that five Afghan National Army soldiers also killed due to insurgent activities in past 24 hours.
The statement did not specify the exact location of the incidents.
