Seven people were killed and nearly 400 wounded after a heavy explosion rocked the Afghan capital, Kabul, in the wee hours of Friday, Khaama Press reported.
Security officials said the blast occurred after a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device was detonated.
The incident took place around 1:00 a.m. local time, Kabul police chief Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi said.
A spokesman for the ministry of public health, Waheedullah Mayar, said women and children were among the injured people.
Local residents in Shah Shaheed and Makroryan said the windows of several houses were shattered in the explosion.
They said the blast took place close to the entrance of the Afghan National Army Intelligence Base in Naqliya Seya Sang area and several ambulances and security forces vehicles were seen rushing toward the area.
