
Conflicts have left nine persons dead including a soldier with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) since Monday night.
A soldier with the NATO-led ISAF lost his life in militants' attack on Tuesday, the alliance said in a statement released here.
"An International Security Assistance Force service member died as a result of an enemy forces attack in eastern Afghanistan today, " the statement of ISAF said.
The statement gave neither the nationality of the victim, nor the exact place of the attack and nor the details about the incident under the ISAF policy.
However, on Tuesday, 45 Taliban militants gave up fighting and joined the government-backed peace process in the relatively peaceful northern Saripul province on Tuesday.
"With joining these people to the peace process the security situation will be further improved in Saripul province," provincial police chief Habib Gulbahari said in his speech in a ceremony to welcome the former militants.
The former militants also handed over their weapons to police in the ceremony.
In a related incident, eight militants were killed and 11 others wounded during an overnight military operations in eastern Wardak province, provincial administration said in a statement released Tuesday morning.
"Afghan security forces conducted a night operation and battled the militants in Chak district, killing eight Taliban militants, including five Pakistani fighters," the provincial government said in the statement.
Three Afghan Taliban local commanders named Mullah Hahad, Mullah Hamdullah and Mullah Muhib were among those killed during the operations, the statement said.
Separately, the security forces also captured a militant namely Amruddin, who tried to plant a roadside bomb along a road in Wardak's provincial capital Maidan Shar early Tuesday morning.
Taliban militants fighting the government haven't made comment.
