Afghan police in conjunction with army and NATO-led troops have eliminated six anti-government insurgents in the country's southern Kandahar and Helmand provinces over the past 24 hours, Afghan Interior Ministry said in a press release issued here on Sunday. "The police force backed by army and NATO-led troops during operations against insurgents in Kandahar and Helmand provinces have killed six rebels over the past 24 hours," the press release added. One insurgent was injured and another made captive, the press release further said. A number of arms and ammunitions including explosive devices have also been discovered during the operations, the press release further said. Kandahar and Helmand provinces have been regarded as Taliban hotbed in the southern region of the militancy-hit Afghanistan.
