At least 10 people were killed and 60 others injured in twin blasts which hit a local bus station and market in Nigeria's Maiduguri city, capital of the northeastern state of Borno and theater of violence by Boko Haram, a local hospital official and witnesses said.
So far, 10 corpses have been received at the morgue of state- run Maiduguri General Hospital where caregivers have also commenced treatment of the injured, said a medical staff who was not authorized to speak to the media.
Hundreds of people thronged the hospital to identify their relatives involved in the incidents, a Xinhua reporter at the health facility said.
The first blast was heard after a female suicide bomber detonated some explosive devices wrapped inside a log of firewoods inside a local fish market along Baga road, a security official said.
Charred body of the female suicide bomber was kept separately, in a body bag at the morgue of Maiduguri General Hospital.
Ten minutes after the first incident, another blast was heard at a bus station situated near the market, added the security source who preferred to be anonymous.
The twin blasts occurred as Nigeria's security chiefs were meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in the Nigerian capital Abuja on issues bordering on the unabated violence by Boko Haram.
At the meeting, the Nigerian leader had ordered the immediate dismantling of military checkpoints across the West African country.
Nigeria has been in a running battle with Boko Haram since 2009, with the group killing more than 13,000 people including women and children while proving to be a hard nut to crack
