At least eight people were killed and several others were injured on Wednesday morning when a commuter train and a minibus collided in Kenya's capital, Nairobi, the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) said. KRCS spokesman Peter Outa said rescue operations are underway to retrieve several bodies trapped in the wreckage of the 33- seater minibus, which was heading to the city center when the accident occurred. "We can confirm eight deaths and several injuries. The injured have been rushed to Mama Lucy and Kenyatta National Hospitals. Six died on the spot and two others succumbed to injuries at the hospital," Outa told Xinhua. Eyewitnesses said the early accident happened when the passenger train collided with the minibus at Nairobi's Mutindwa market in Umoja residential estate.
