Kenyan police confirmed on Monday that investigations are underway into the death of a Belgian tourist killed on Saturday in a road accident in northwest Kenya.
Traffic commandant Charlton Mureithi said the 52-year-old was travelling with a group of nine tourists when he was killed Saturday night in a road accident along Kericho-Kisumui highway.
He said preliminary investigations showed that the vehicle carrying the tourists lost control due to stones scattered on the road, adding that the eight injured had been treated and discharged.
Last Monday, Cabinet Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure Engineer Michael Kamau said the number of road accident fatalities had been reduced after the government took new traffic regulations.
