Bulgarian customs have seized over 5.5 kg of heroin at Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint near the country's southeastern border with Turkey, officials said on Wednesday. The drugs were found on Tuesday in a Bulgaria-registered car, entering from Turkey and driven by a Bulgarian citizen, the National Customs Agency said in a press release on its website. After x-ray inspections, customs officers found two cylinders filled with heroin, hidden in a cavity passing through the vehicle. The total weight of the heroin was 5.53 kg, customs said. Bulgaria, with 20,000 to 30,000 heroin users, is a transit country for the highly addictive drug.
