A bus collided with a truck on a highway in eastern China early Friday, killing at least 10 people and injuring 34 others, government officials said. The 53-seat bus was heading to Yingshang County in Anhui province from Shanghai when it hit the back of the truck, which was loaded with bricks, at about 3:45 a.m., China's official Xinhua news agency reported. People sitting in the first five rows of the bus were buried under fallen bricks from the truck. Of those who were injured in the incident, three are in critical condition, officials said. Police said the coach was traveling illegally -- buses are not allowed to travel on expressways between 2 and 5 a.m., to prevent severe road accidents.
