Eight people were killed and 19 others were injured after a tourist bus overturned and plunged into a valley in southwest China's Yunnan Province on Sunday, local authorities said. Twenty-seven people were aboard the bus when it plummeted into a valley on Mengjing Road in the Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Xishuangbanna at 12:40 p.m., sources with the prefecture's press office said. Eight people were confirmed dead at the scene of the accident. The injured have been hospitalized. Their condition is not yet known. An initial investigation indicated that the vehicle overturned due to a lack of traction caused by heavy rain, the sources said.
