
Chairman of Russian Investigative Committee (IC) Alexander Bastrykin has visited Monday a suicide bombing site in the North Caucasian Chechen capital of Grozny and heard the first results of the probe at an urgent meeting in the Chechen capital.
Bastrykin came from the Grozny airport to the bombing site where a suicide bomber had blasted a homemade explosive device on Sunday, spokesman of Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin told TASS. The bomb explosion killed five policemen, and eleven policemen had got fragmentation wounds.
The IC chief laid flowers at the tragedy site and commemorated policemen killed in the call of duty.
Then he held an urgent meeting in Chechen local investigation department where he heard a report of a team of detectives on the progress of investigation in the criminal case over the bombing. Deputy Chairman of Russian Investigative Committee Boris Karnaukhov, senior investigators from the North Caucasian Federal District and chiefs from republican police and Federal Security Service branches attended the meeting.
A bombing was staged at around 5pm Moscow time at a concert hall in Isayev Avenue in the city of Grozny on Sunday.
