China pledges 1 million USD aid to Turkey

China will offer 1 million U.S. dollars in cash to quake-ravaged Turkey to help relief efforts, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Sunday. The move shows the Chinese government''s and people''s friendship with the government and people of Turkey, the MOC said in a brief statement quoted by Xinhua news. The 7.3-magnitude earthquake that struck eastern Turkey''s Van province on Oct. 23 left at least 582 people dead and 4,152 others injured as of Saturday.
