President Hu Jintao arrived at the Beijing Aerospace Flight Control Center at 9 p.m. Thursday to watch the launch of the nation's first space lab module Tiangong-1, which is scheduled to blast off. Other members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, including Wu Bangguo, Jia Qinglin, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang and Zhou Yongkang, are also present. Premier Wen Jiabao and He Guoqiang, also members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, went to the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center to watch the launch process. Tiangong-1 is scheduled to be launched between 9:16 p.m. and 9:31 p.m. It will dock with the Shenzhou-8 spacecraft later this year and paves the way for building the nation's first space station.
