All 11 crew members aboard a Russian ship that was reportedly missing in the White Sea have been safely rescued, the Transport Ministry said Wednesday. The ministry's press service didn't confirm previous reports about another passenger who was also reportedly aboard the ship but said rescuers landed on the deck of the "Captain Kuznetsov" from a helicopter and evacuated the crew members after the vessel ran aground in the White Sea. The ship's owner company said in a statement that the ship was stranded by a storm in the White Sea and forced to stop all its engines. The Emergency Situations Ministry confirmed Tuesday that the Captain Kuznetsov, en route from St. Petersburg to the Arctic Sea port city of Arkhangelsk, went missing in the White Sea without sending any SOS signals.
