Dead body found at UK queen's estate

The dead body of a woman has been found at Queen Elizabeth's vast rural estate in Norfolk, eastern England, with the police treating the case as a murder. The body was found on January 1 about five kilometers from the country home of Sandringham where members of the British royal family enjoyed their New Year's Daycelebration. “The body has been in situ for some time. The body is female and the circumstances indicate that she is probably the victim of a murder,” said Detective Chief Inspector Jes Fry. The estate, at which the murder took place, has been the private residence of Britain's royal family since 1862 and Queen Elizabeth has been spending the anniversary of her father's death there since 1952. Furthermore, the royals held their New Year's Day celebration at the estate as the queen celebrated the 60th anniversary of her reign with a horse ride in the grounds of Sandringham House just two days after the murder to mark the start of her Diamond Jubilee. The queen is still at the estate as the police have informed her about the murder. The office of the British monarch has been silent on the murder case and the police have not released much information on the case. “We are at the very early stages of the investigation and it could be a complex inquiry,” said Fry.
