Zeki Alar, 32, who was injured during clashes between pro and anti-Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, groups in southeastern Turkey on Dec. 27 has died on Sunday, health officials said.
Alar was seriously injured in the province of Sirnak and had been moved to Diyarbakir Dicle University Medicine Research Hospital, but he did not survive after numerous surgical operations.
In the early hours of Dec. 27, clashes erupted between pro and anti-PKK groups in the town of Cizre, killing three people and injuring three, before being broken up by security forces.
Yasin Ozer, 19, Baris Dalmis, 15, and Abdullah Deniz, 65, were killed.
The government has been active in promoting a solution process aimed at securing an end to the decades-long conflict with the PKK, which has claimed the lives of more than 40,000 people.
Turkey, the U.S. and the EU list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
Earlier in October, both clashes and protests erupted -- resulting in some 40 deaths. They started when the Syrian border town of Kobani came under attack by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant militants and pro-Kurdish politicians alleged that the Turkish government was not doing enough to help the town’s Kurdish-majority population.
ISIL militants launched an offensive in mid-September, capturing many villages surrounding the northern Syrian city of Kobani from Kurdish fighters.
