F-18 Jet crashes off coast of Virginia; navy confirms pilot ejected, recovered

The U.S. military reported that a single-seat Navy FA-18E super hornet crashed 45 miles off coast of Virginia Beach on Wednesday afternoon. The U.S. Navy confirmed via Twitter that the pilot ejected and was safely recovered. The downed jet originated from Oceana Naval Air Station and was conducting training exercises. Navy spokesman Petty Officer David Weydert confirmed the pilot was rescued by a nearby fishing vessel.
