Cuban President Raul Castro and his brother Fidel Castro has visited cancer-stricken Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who is currently recovering from a medical surgery, the Univision TV channel reported on Saturday. Fidel Castro spent about two hours with Chavez in his hospital room, Venezuelan Information Minister Andres Izarra said on his Twitter. Cuban doctors operated on Chavez on Monday night to remove a tumor. The new formation was detected in roughly the same spot where Chavez had a malignant tumor of the intestine, which was removed in summer 2011. Chavez has between nine and 12 months to live, the ABC Spanish daily quoted his doctors as saying in January. Former Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, as well as current President Dilma Rousseff and Paraguay's leader Fernando Lugo have all been diagnosed with cancer in recent years.
