A Georgian TV company on Monday showed footage of Badri Bitsadze, the fugitive husband of opposition leader Nino Burdzhanadze, in Vienna. Bitsadze was shown near Grand Hotel in the Austrian capital with his wife and son. His whereabouts have until now been unknown. In mid-August Bitsadze, the former chief of Georgia's border police, was sentenced in absentia to five years and six months in prison for orchestrating public disturbances and attacking police during a protest in May. The five-day rally against President Mikheil Saakashvili was broken up on May 26. Bitsadze declined to talk to reporters.
