Greek president to summon party chiefs

Greece's president will summon the heads of the political parties "without delay" at the request of Prime Minister George Papandreou in a bid to break a political stalemate, Athens said Saturday. The head of state will discuss with the top politicians "the opportunities for co-operation," the statement said, as Papandreou scrambles to forge a unity government to pull the crisis-hit country out of its debt plight.
