Speaker of Supreme Assembly of Islamic Revolution of Iraq Seyed Amar Hakim said on Wednesday that all parties, groups, political personalities and nation of Iraq are opposed to renewal and extension of the US forces’ presence in their country. Addressing a group of Iraqis residing in Iran at Hosseinieh Amir-ul-Momenin late Wednesday, Hakim said, “We are thankful to the Islamic Republic of Iran for providing Iraqi refugees with refuge and for embracing them.” He said at a time when Arab and Islamic countries shrugged off accepting Iraqis during tyranny of Saddam, that was the Islamic Republic of Iran that showed mercy to Iraqis when father of the Islamic Revolution and founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini, was alive. Now too Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei follows the path of the late Imam Khomeini and “we are thankful to him”, he added. On the Islamic awakening movements in the region, Hakim said dictatorial regimes go away one after another and those are nations that move on to gain freedom and justice.
