The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) would welcome a visit to the Gaza Strip by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan at anytime, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahar said. Al-Zahar noted that Erdogan’s visit would be significant for breaking the siege on Gaza. “We appreciate that Turkey was the first to try to break the Israeli blockade through the Marmara flotilla.” Speaking on a visit by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to Gaza, the Hamas official said it will be better if Abbas visits the Strip after concluding the reconciliation for “security reasons related to his personal safety.”
