
Heavy rains that hit the upper eastern Pakistani province of Punjab have caused floods in many villages, the inundation of several rivers and the death of three, including a child. At least two women were killed after the roof of their shed collapsed on them in Pasrur village, while the rain also led to the death of a child was killed in Shakargarh's Tola village. Meanwhile, some seven people were injured as their roofs collapsed on them accross different areas, including Lahore city. The Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) warns high floods to continue accross most regions and rivers in the eastern province. According to forecasts, the showers are being generated by a persistent westerly wave and incursion of a moist current from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. Medium to high floods are expected at Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur districts and their surrounding areas. The rains have started to cover upper parts of the country, including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions. The water level in River Jhelum at Mangla was 100,000 cubic feet per second and is expected to rise to 250,000 cubic feet per second, added the FFD
