India, still angry over the arrest of one of its diplomats in New York, has canceled the identity cards of U.S. consular and embassy staff, officials said. The Indian government rejected a request Monday by the U.S. Embassy for more time to surrender the cards, CNN-IBN reported. Devyani Khobragade, 39, a deputy consul in New York, was charged Dec. 12 with making false statements on how much she paid her immigrant housekeeper. Last week, she was transferred to India's permanent mission to the United Nations, presumably to make prosecution more difficult.
