
At least six workers were killed and 13 others were injured after a factory caught fire in the Indian capital, New Delhi, police said Sunday. The police said the incident happened in peripheral area of the India capital and the factory used to manufacture leather goods. The police said that many factory workers were trapped inside the building and were shouting for help when the fire engulfed the whole building. "Some of the windows were blocked with iron mesh, forcing firefighters to cut their way into the building to rescue the workers," the Times of India reported. The police said they have to rush 20 people to the hospital, adding that six died on their way while 13 others were still hospitalized. The six dead have been burnt beyond recognition, the police added. Police has started investigation to look into the causes of factory fire. Owner of the factory has been taken into custody for questioning.
