Former Detroit mayor and corruption case defendant Kwame Kilpatrick recently received a death threat, he told his parole agent. State prison documents reveal Kilpatrick made the allegation during a conversation Oct. 21 with parole agent Charles Wright, the Detroit News reported Thursday, adding that Kilpatrick has failed to provide proof of the alleged threat despite several requests from the state. "I wouldn't necessarily say that we're skeptical, but if you ask someone for something several times and it isn't provided..... You would think that he would provide that information as quickly as possible," said Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Russ Marlan. "(Kilpatrick) stated someone had made a threat on his life but this incident allegedly happened 2 or 3 weeks ago," Wright wrote in Kilpatrick's case file Oct. 21, the newspaper reported. Wright and Kilpatrick have met several times since, but no documentation of the threat has been provided, the newspaper said. Kilpatrick's current trial on corruption charges has been postponed until Nov. 13, awaiting the recovery of a co-defendant's attorney, who was hospitalized Oct. 29.
