Dubai A man has denied threatening to kill his former boss if he didn’t pay his Dh60,000 end-of-service benefits after he was sacked from his job. Prosecutors accused the 27-year-old Pakistani man, M.F., of verbally threatening to kill his 43-year-old Dutch boss if the latter did not pay him Dh60,000. “No I didn’t threaten him at all. The claimant is my former boss. I worked for him and he fired me after one month. The money is my end-of-service benefit,” said M.F. when he entered his plea before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday. The Dutch boss claimed to prosecutors that he informed M.F. via email that his contract was terminated because he failed to prove himself as a logistics manager during the probation period. “When he failed to prove his qualifications, I emailed him saying that he was not welcome in the company anymore. He came one day to the company’s reception and threatened to kill me and then kill himself if he didn’t collect Dh60,000 in compensation for his dismissal. Police arrested him immediately after I reported them,” claimed the boss. M.F. handed Presiding Judge Maher Salama Al Mahdi a written waiver that he obtained from his former boss. The company’s finance manager testified that when he asked M.F. to leave the company’s premises and lodge a labour lawsuit, the latter shouted in his face “ask the police to shoot me otherwise I will shoot him [the boss]”. A judgement will be heard on June 24.
