
One of the five seriously injured passengers in the train derailment accident happened last week in Graubuenden canton in eastern Switzerland died in hospital on Friday, police said.
The Graubuenden cantonal police told Xinhua that the 85-year-old man from Lucerne of central Switzerland died from his injures Friday morning in hospital, being the first fatality of the accident.
Police did not disclose the conditions of other four heavily injured.
On Aug. 13, a train was detailed near Tiefencastel on the line between Chur and the ski resort St. Moritz by a landslide resulting from heavy rains, leaving five severely injured and six others slightly wounded, all of whom have been transported to nearby hospitals.
Among the injured, there were two Japanese and one Australian, the rest were Swiss.
Police said that around 200 passengers were on the train, and three train wagons were derailed by the landslide, one of which was fortunately stopped by trees after it slid ten meters along a steep slope and did not fall into the bottom of the ravine.
All passengers were rescued and there were no fatalities on site.
