
An Italian man set himself on fire on Thursday in Vatican's St Peter's Square and suffered serious burns, local media reported. According to the ANSA news agency, the man in his 50s doused himself with gasoline and then set himself on fire around 8:30 a.m. local time on Thursday. He was taken to a hospital for burn injuries and is in critical condition. A priest reportedly tried to put out the fire helped by two police officers. The motives behind the man's act are still unknown. But the report said the man was carrying a piece of paper with the phone number of his daughter.
