A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train struck a man who was walking along the tracks in Topeka, Kan., but the man walked away with minor injuries, police said. Kristopher Wenberg, 25, was walking along a section of track that runs parallel to S.W. Topeka Boulevard Thursday evening when the train struck him, the (Topeka) Capital-Journal reported. The train operator said he sounded the horn and slowed the train but Wenberg kept walking and wound up getting hit. He nevertheless managed to get up and walk away -- talking on a cellphone as he went -- Shawnee County Sheriff Herman Jones said. Jones said Wenberg picked up a ride to a hospital, where he was treated for lacerations to his legs and shoulder. Police said Wenberg told investigators he was wearing headphones when the train hit him. Jones said Wenberg faces prosecution for criminal trespass, the newspaper reported.
