The top floor of a 3-story New York City house collapsed during a St. Patrick's Day party and injured 12 people, firefighters said. About 100 people were at the party when the floor gave way around 11 p.m. Saturday in the borough of Queens, WABC-TV, New York, reported. Of the 12 injured, two people were hospitalized, one in serious condition and the other was described as being stable, the broadcaster said. Firefighters used ladders and an aerial bucket to rescue people who fell to the second floor, the New York Post said. Ten people with minor injuries refused medical treatment, WABC said. The broadcaster said the city's building department is investigating what caused the collapse, as there is a history of complaints about illegal renovations being done on the ground floor.
