THIS is the moment a sleepy elephant caused a traffic jam after deciding to take a nap in the middle of a road. He decided enough was enough of the October heat wave and settled his 11,000lb bulk down for a snooze in front of stunned onlookers at West Midlands Safari Park. Head elephant keeper Andy Plumb, who took this picture, said: “There was a bit of a traffic jam which lasted a fair amount of time as he was out for the count.” But the tired 20-year-old African elephant eventually awoke and plodded off to find a much quieter spot to sleep.
