Palestinian officials Saturday denied Israeli reports President Mahmoud Abbas was considering delaying Palestine's bid to upgrade its U.N. status until 2013. Abbas was considering asking for a United Nations vote to change Palestine's status to that of non-member state on Nov. 15 or 29, The Jerusalem Post reported. Israeli media reports suggested Saturday Abbas may delay the vote to give re-elected U.S. President Barack Obama the opportunity to introduce a fresh peace initiative. Abbas' spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, dismissed the reports. "It's for sure that the decision has been made and there is no going back," he said "We will go to the U.N. to demand a state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital."
