One person was killed, and 7 others are missing after a Panama-registered freighter sank in waters off Zhoushan city Tuesday morning, according to China's News Agency (Xinhua). The freighter, Yuan Tong, sank on route to Zhoushan Longshan shipyard with 40 Chinese on board, authorities said. Thirty two people were rescued during the search and rescue efforts involving eight ships and rescuers are still looking for the missing. The sinking also caused a minor fuel spill. Maritime authorities said the spill, which came from the vessel's fuel tank, was being cleaned up. The cause of the accident is under further investigation.
