An airliner flying from Spain to the Netherlands Wednesday was intercepted by fighter jets after officials couldn't contact the pilot by radio, officials said. While officials said they were concerned about the lack of contact with the pilot, passengers aboard the Veuling Airbus A320, traveling from Malaga to Amsterdam, said nothing was wrong or out of the ordinary, DutchNews.nl reported. The plane was accompanied by the F-16s to a runway at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. After waiting on the runway for a bit, the plane was allowed to taxi to a gate. "When there is no contact with the pilot that is reason for us to take action," a counter-terrorism official told the Nos. The initial thought was that the aircraft was hijacked.
