One of two police officers shot early Thursday in a Paris suburb has died in hospital, police and media sources confirmed.
The officer, a woman, was shot in the Montrouge-Malakof suburb south of the capital by a man in a vehicle who was armed with a handgun and a semi-automatic machine pistol, the sources said.
No details of the deceased officer were released and a second officer who was also wounded in currently being treated for wounds and shock.
Police have not yet linked the shooting to a more serious incident Wednesday, when twelve people were shot dead at the "Charlie Hebdo" satirical magazine in central Paris.
"France 24" television reported that the assailant Thursday escaped aboard a white vehicle after the shooting and is being hunted by security services.
