The 20-year-old son of a rich English jeweler was sentenced to at least 16 years in prison Tuesday for strangling his 17-year-old girlfriend. Elliot Turner was convicted Monday of the murder of Emily Longley, a model from New Zealand, The Daily Telegraph reported. His parents, Leigh and Anita Turner of Bournemouth, were found guilty of perverting the course of justice for allegedly trying to cover up their son's actions. During the sentencing in Winchester Crown Court, Mrs. Justice Linda Dobbs had harsh words for Turner, saying he had "deprived a large tight-knit family of a daughter, granddaughter and sister." "Loving someone is not seeking to control that person's life, not telling someone they are a whore, not telling friends to threaten them and not slagging them off to friends," Dobbs said. "You did not love her -- she was just a trophy. The relationship, if that's what it can be called, was all about you." Turner persisted in showing "arrogance" and "lack of remorse" into the trial, Dobbs said. At one point, when Dobbs said the killing was premeditated, Turner appeared to mouth and expletive, "Bull-----." The judge postponed sentencing for Turner's parents but warned them they could face prison.
