Indonesian rescuers found the small plane which force-landed in western Indonesia on Thursday, Xinhua news agency reported. "The position of the plane has been found based on observation from air. The condition of the plane is undamaged. There is no any sign of fire or damage," the spokesman told Xinhua. The CASA C-212 plane carrying three crew members and 15 passengers lost contact with air traffic control while flying from North Sumatra to Aceh province, Transport Ministry spokesman Bambang Ervan said. Residents in the village of Bahorok reported that the plane had crashed, he said. A cargo plane piloted by a U.S. national crashed in Indonesia's Papua province a week ago. Indonesia has been plagued by transportation accidents in recent years, from plane and train crashes to ferry sinkings. Many are blamed on overcrowding and poor safety standards.
