At least 26 people died and 17 injured in a gruesome bus accident near India's financial capital Mumbai, Monday, reported the Press Trust of India (PTI). The accident took place when a heavy vehicle rammed into a stationary passenger bus, which had broken down on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. While the bus was being repaired, passengers of the ill-fated bus were sitting by the roadside in between two stationary buses when the heavy vehicle rammed into it from behind. The victims were crushed between the two stationary buses, added the report. The victims were returning from a wedding party, stated the report further. The injured were rushed to various nearby hospitals. The death toll is likely to rise as some of the victims were reported to be in serious condition.
