Russian ship disappears in White Sea, 11 people on board

A Russian cargo ship with 11 people aboard disappeared in the White Sea early Tuesday without sending any SOS signals, said the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry. The ship named "Captain Kuznetsov" disappeared on its way to the Russian Arctic Sea port city of Arkhangelsk with no load, the authorities said in a press release. The ship crew last time communicated with the regional traffic control early Tuesday, the authorities said. The regional emergency department has sent rescue ships to the cargo ship's estimated whereabouts. The rescue team will start search operation when the weather permits, the authorities said.
