Small plane crashes in rural Georgia, killing 1

Federal investigators said one person was killed when a small airplane carrying only the pilot crashed in Georgia. Federal Aviation Administration investigators said a single-engine Piper Malibu registered to an unspecified Georgia entity took off from Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey Monday headed to DeKalb-Peachtree Airport outside of Atlanta. Air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane about 7:15 p.m. Wreckage was found in rural Dawsonville, Ga., that night, NJ.com reported. The FAA had not released the pilot's name and said it would be up to local law enforcement to do so once family has been notified. FAA investigators, along with the National Transportation Safety Board, were looking into what caused the crash.
