The Myanmar authorities have warned taxi drivers in Yangon of potential bomb attack, urging them to take precautionary measures following the recent killing of a taxi driver by a bomb left in the car without knowledge. According to the Yangon Times Thursday, the authorities are issuing directives to taxi drivers alerting them to take preventive measures against such onslaught. A driver was killed and two passengers were severely injured in a bomb explosion which occurred in a taxi on Oct. 25 in front of the Office of Motor Car Registration in Thingangyun township. Local sources said an unknown passenger left the bomb hidden in a packet in the taxi before he got off. On Oct. 30, Myanmar police successfully detonated two suspected bombs uncovered inside the compound of Yangon's City Hall, preventing it from harming the public.
