A total of 356 people were confirmed dead and two people were missing in the floods that have inundated the upper part of the country for almost three months, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department reported on Saturday. Flash floods and mudslide triggered by the heavy monsoon rain and overflow from several dams have affected about 2.8 million households and about 9.1 million people in 62 of 77 provinces since mid July. On Saturday, floods still prevail in 28 provinces with 75 main highways impassable and 18 north-bound train routes being cancelled.
