Traffic Accidents Kill 19 People in Morocco’s Urban Areas Last Week

Nineteen people were killed and 1,507 were injured, including 71 seriously, in the 1,164 traffic accidents that occurred in urban areas on January 9-15, the Moroccan police said.
These accidents were mainly ascribed to non-control of vehicles, non-respect of priority, excessive speeding, pedestrian and driver errors and driving under the influence of alcohol, the Moroccan police pointed out in a statement.
Over 30,103 traffic tickets were issued by the police during the same week. The sum of fines paid by road traffic violators stood at around 4 million dirhams, the same source said.
